Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.


Author Guidelines

JOSER accepts submissions only via this electronic submission management system. Please do not send your paper to the editors as email attachments.

Initial Submission
Articles must be submitted in PDF. Submissions should be typeset in 11 point font or larger, and should include all author contact information on the first page. Although not required for submission, we encourage authors to use the JOSER LaTeX style package.
Articles may be accompanied by online supplemental material . (Note: if an online appendix contains source code, we will require you to sign a release form prior to publication freeing us from liability.)
To submit a paper, please

  1. Prepare it in PDF.
  2. Ensure that the file to be uploaded is less than 5Mb in size.
  3. Ensure that the title page contains
    • complete name, postal and e-mail address of the corresponding author;
    • an abstract that does not exceed 200 words
    • a list of five keywords
  4. Register, log in, and begin the 5 step process.
Camera-ready copies of accepted papers
To ensure that all articles published in the journal have a uniform appearance, all camera-ready copies of accepted papers are required to be typeset in LaTeX with the JOSER LaTeX style package. The package includes:
  • joser1.cls : the JOSER LaTeX document class
  • joser_template.tex : LATEX source of the sample article
  • joser_bibliography.bib : LATEX source of the bibliography
  • IEEEtran.bst : BibTeX style file
  • figure.jpg : figure in jpg format
  • author.jpg : author photo in jpg
  • joser_template.pdf : the pdf output of the sample article
Camera-ready copies of accepted papers which do not adhere to JOSER author guidelines WILL NOT be published. Authors must submit camera-ready papers as zip files that include:
  • a single source file author_yyyymmdd.tex; do not include external .tex files; use the submission date
  • the bibliography file author_yyyymmdd.bib
  • the collection of figures as jpg files author_yyyymmdd_f01.jpg, _f02.jpg, etc.
  • the output file author_yyyymmdd.pdf


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in PDF format generated from a LaTeX file. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The authors' photographs and short biographies have been included at the end of regular papers.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.

  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).
